growth.
healing.
freedom.
peace.
every year, we find new ways to distill all our hopes and dreams for the next 365ish days into one word.1
can’t start a new year without making promises to be broken.
oh, you don’t have resolutions? you don’t have any words?
well, what do you have? surely you want to become a better person like the rest of us. no?
for the wordless, the crushed, those who barely survived the past year; rest. there’s time enough for you to simply exist. no words needed.
In case you see this as me dumping on the “word for the year” concept, I also have words for each year. It does give off “New Year Resolutions Lite™” vibes, though. I like the idea of having an overall theme for the year, but there’s not as much pressure as there is with a specific resolution. Yes, it goes against the rules of setting “SMART” goals. But I’m anti hustle culture, so I don’t care about being as productive as possible within a year. There’s more important things in life than losing weight within a certain time period. Do whatever you have energy for that brings you joy.
